The world of virtual reality gaming is constantly growing larger, with the Oculus Quest 2 becoming arguably the most popular and easiest way to explore VR these days. Whether you’re looking to play some of the best games the Oculus Quest 2 has to offer, or just want to explore the wider world of VR, you’re in for a great experience.
However, it may be easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of games to choose from, so we’ve collected some of the biggest unreleased Oculus Quest 2 games slated to release for the platform in the coming months.
Boneworks is a fantastic action puzzle shooter on the Oculus Rift that is known best for its realistic physics engine. Now, Bonelabs is finally made its way to mobile VR hardware, with a release for the Quest 2 late last month.
Release date: September 29, 2022
Originally released in 1976 as a text-based adventure game, Colossal Cave comes from Cygnus Entertainment, which was founded by legendary developers Ken and Roberta Williams, the latter of whom created the video game King’s Quest when she worked at Sierra On-Line, a company she founded alongside Ken. This VR remake will be a full 3D reimagining of the game and force players to move through a large cave while solving puzzles along the way.
Release date: Fall 2022
The hit phenomenon is finally making its way to VR. Among Us, the famous whodunit social deduction game, was recently shown off during Meta’s 2022 Games Showcase and will be hitting the ecosystem soon. Not too much is known about how the game will operate in VR, but judging by the brief trailer, it looks like things will play out the same way as the original version, with players having to complete various jobs before finding out who is the imposter amongst them.
Release date: Holiday 2022
Following up on the excellent survival horror game Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, Retribution takes you back to New Orleans for a 15- to 20-hour campaign where you’ll scavenge new weapons and tools while dealing with the deadly consequences of your actions from the last game.
Release date: Late 2022
Gambit was first teased as a PC VR title two years ago but has now resurfaced as a Quest 2 title with an actual release date, including crazy masked characters, foul language, and lots and lots of shooting.
In many ways, it seems to channel Payday’s energy while being a game properly built for the VR era. Throughout the 20+ hour campaign, you’ll join friends through a three-chapter-long story that includes robbing trains, grand adventures, gun fights, and the single goal of ‘get rich or die trying.’ Sounds like a blast.
Release date:Â TBD 2022
Next Player Please sees players sitting around a physical table, passing the headset to one another to complete minigames with just their hands. The trick here — at least based on the trailer — is that the VR headset doesn’t have a strap and players don’t use controllers.
Those two key points make it easy to pass the headset along to others quickly, as what appear to be Wario Ware-style minigames will likely be faster-paced than in other VR titles.
Release date:Â TBD 2022
This was perhaps the single biggest announcement during the 2022 Meta Games Showcase. Ghostbusters VR takes the iconic film franchise and puts it into the world of virtual reality. The game tasks players with running a new Ghostbusters HQ in San Francisco, all while taking down and capturing various ghosts in the process.
Ghostbusters VR supports up to four-player co-op, and seems to be sticking pretty close to the spirit of the original films. However, we don’t know much else about the game at this time.
